I can't believe that we already have our first year under our belt. You know what they say, time flies when you're having fun... This last year has been a lot of work, but so worth it. At our last board meeting, October 22nd, we thanked two founding board members as they stepped down (Zaneta Adams and Tom Doan), and we voted in two new board members - each stepping up for a three year term (Lori Pavlak and Joe Garza.) That does leave us with 1 board position still open. We also elected our officers for the next year. I was elected as President, once again, as well as Rich Heykoop agreeing to another term as Vice President. Our new Treasurer is Lori Pavlak, and Lori Parmer is our new secretary.
We have some BIG changes coming to the Heykoop Veteran Memorial Car Show & Benefit in 2019. I can't go into details right now, but let's just say that I am SUPER excited about where we are going... I really think these changes are going to bring the Car Show to a new level in regards to bringing awareness to our issue.
We are planning a few more smaller events at the beginning of 2019 that should serve to bring awareness and raise funds: a bowling tournament, a casino trip or poker tournament, and a golf outing. We also were invited to partner with the River Country Chamber of Commerce to help put on a car show during the logging festival in Newaygo in May. More details to come on all these events as they unfold.
If you haven't already, make sure you like our facebook page. Once we get to 250 likes I will share the BIG, EXCITING news about the car show. :-)
