Lighthouse for Veterans was established to remember those lost to veteran suicide, as well as their families, while honoring and supporting the veterans that are still with us; and to also increase awareness and help prevent the tragedy that is veteran suicide.

WE NEED YOU!
You've heard of the number 22 - the number of Veterans that take their own life. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
But have you heard of the number 27? According to the latest research and numbers put out by the VA - 27 is the number of Veterans that are dying by suicide each day. That means that the issue of Veteran suicide is not going away. More are dying, and so more needs to be done by our community to save these Veterans' lives.
This war at home is more dangerous than all of our combat missions around the world. Let's end the stigma surrounding PTSD. Let's end the silence. Let’s save our veterans.
The 4th Annual HEYKOOP VETERAN MEMORIAL CAR SHOW & BENEFIT will be held on July 4th, 2020. As always, it is held on the first Saturday in July each year. With the Car Show & Benefit falling on a National Holiday - it promises to be an epic event that you will not want to miss!
The registered nonprofit behind the Car Show & Benefit, Lighthouse For Veterans was established to remember those lost to veteran suicide, as well as their families, while honoring and supporting the veterans that are still with us; and to also increase awareness and help prevent the tragedy that is veteran suicide.
Will you join us in the fight against Veteran suicide? We have sponsorships of differing monetary amounts available, each with its own set of benefits. The funds raised from sponsorships go towards holding the Car Show & Benefit itself, hosting suicide prevention efforts in the community (called QPR), and organizing Veteran Only Retreats. Every dollar raised could help save a Veteran’s life.
This year we have set a goal of $12,500 to be raised at the Car Show & Benefit. With you as our partner, we will undoubtedly reach, and even exceed that goal, and be able to serve our Veterans well.
We, along with countless veterans, thank you in advance for your assistance! Your support is greatly appreciated.

How We Help
Separate retreats will be held for:
1 - Veterans
2 - Parents who have lost a child to Veteran suicide
3 - Siblings who have lost a brother/sister to Veteran suicide
4 - Spouses who have lost their loved one to Veteran suicide
Retreats will bring together peers who are going through the same things.
Everyone on our board of directors is QPR certified. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer - and is the standard for suicide prevention training. QPR teaches you the signs to look for, and then what to do / how to get help if you believe someone may be suicidal. Our President is a certified QPR trainer, and has provided trainings for other organizations, as well as for the community in general. Contact us today to have a QPR training at your work, organization, or even just for you and your friends/family. The more people who know QPR - the more Veterans we can save!
Often loved ones are left wondering how they will pay for the funeral after a Veteran suicide. Maybe that Veteran did not have life insurance, or there is a limit imposed on the amount their life insurance will pay due to the suicide. We believe that dealing with the death of a loved one is hard enough. One of our goals is to help those families pay for funeral expenses.
At Lighthouse For Veterans we believe that suicide must be talked about. In our society it is a taboo issue. While suicide will never be a comfortable subject, it is necessary to discuss in order to combat the amount of suicides taking place today. By holding events and promoting them we are starting the conversation. Veteran suicide is a problem that will not go away until we learn to talk about it.
